Football Abolitionism

So many bloggers, editorialists, and other critics are asking why it is that there’s been no conversation about shutting down the Penn State football program. Shouldn’t a program that at its highest levels protected a child rapist be subject to punishment?

Oh — it’s not football? Listen to Frank DeFord’s NPR segment from this morning for a powerful rebuttal of that disavowal: http://www.npr.org/2011/11/16/142355144/is-football-culture-the-core-of-the-problem.
