“Just the Way I Wrote It”

So this is the second time I’ve been at an event in which the person who was introduced turned to the person making the introductions and said, “Thank you for the warm introduction. You read it just the way I wrote it.”

Is this supposed to be funny? Or is it a form of discipline for an introduction that wasn’t considered up to par? Just seems mean to me.
